Thought it would be nice to share with our readers what we've been up to including our Girl's Night Out dates.

I had a gift card for the Keg so we decided to meet at The Keg on Alberni Street downtown Vancouver which Carolyn also describes as the Shangrila Keg. This was the first time I went to this location and I loved the atmosphere. First we met at the bottom of staircase that led up to the front doors of the restaurant. The staircase was lined with bamboo on both sides creating a natural and beautiful entrance. I had made Open Table reservations for 5pm and that's also when the dining room and outdoor patio opened. It was a beautiful sunny evening so we asked to sit in the elegant patio and dine outdoors.

Happy Hour was from 3-6pm so we had time to indulge in $6 glasses of wine. I had the white on tap and Carolyn had the red on tap. Both were lovely blends that I would return to have again. It was worth going for an early dinner just to be able to have $6 glass of wine.

For our meals, we didn't order from the Happy Hour menu but instead had the Keg classic dinners which start with a caesar salad and the steak of your choice comes with grilled vegetables and a side of your choice. I chose the Top Sirloin (8oz) steak with bernaise sauce and a twice baked potato. The Keg Classic dinners did not disappoint. We were both completely satisfied with our meals and the ambiance at The Keg on Alberni in Vancouver.

I was looking for a new cleanser and moisturizer and found the Ole Henriksen A Brighter Truth skincare kit with the cleaner, serum, and moisturizer. The brighter truth has vitamin c to help with the sun spots and age spots which I need so I bought the reasonably priced kit at $42. It has a light fruity scent that is refreshing so we'll see how I feel after I test it for a month.

Then we continued our journey down Robson Street past the Vancouver Art Gallery where there was a busker playing music on the street. We were both completely full from dinner so the evening stroll downtown was a way to walk off our dinner. Since Carolyn needed to travel by the Canada Skytrain Line, we decided to walk to the Roundhouse Yaletown skytrain station. Just outside the skytrain station we were pleasantly surprised with the Underbrella art exhibit. Umbrellas in the sky. It was the perfect way to end our girl's night out.
A & W is a Canadian classic and has been around since 1956. I love eating in and getting the A & W root beer in a frosty mug. The A & W root beer is made with cane sugar. I was lucky because I was babysitting my niece who likes A & W kids pack. She ordered the chicken strips kids pack with orange juice and fries. I ordered a teen burger combo with a root beer and often the coupons are for upgrades which is what I did here. I paid for the Teen Burger combo which normally comes with french fries but with my coupon I got a free upgrade to onion rings. What I didn't notice until after we sat down was that they even have a self serve kiosk at A & W now. I'm an introvert so I love self serve kiosks because all of the choices are there without having to interact or try to figure out what the cashier is asking for. It wasn't busy so ordering at the counter did not take very long and there were spaces in the restaurant for us to enjoy a lovely A & W lunch with my niece. Every now and again they change up the coupons too. Here's the link for the A & W coupons to save a buck or two: https://awcoupon.ca/en

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I was first introduced to Janzen Tea in the summer and happened to go for a late lunch during happy hour. Happy Hour is a perfect time to try different types of food and drinks because the fruit tea and smoothies, salad rolls, and spring rolls are all on sale. It's hard not to try a little bit of everything.

We went to the location in Coquitlam 3025 Lougheed Hwy #750 closest to Coquitlam Central Skytrain Station. On Mondays they have Meatless Monday specials with their Vegetarian Pho. There are other locations in Vancouver, but I've only visited the location in Coquitlam.

The hardest part is deciding what you want to try. Janzen tea is the Taiwanese tea part of the restaurant that serves fruit, milk, smooth or snow sips. So many different types to choose from. The Pineapology is pictured below with a shrimp salad roll and peanut sauce. In the other picture is the vegetarian pho. I've tried the delicious popcorn chicken as well and spring rolls. Even just writing this blog is making me long to return to Janzen Tea and Pho Hoa to treat myself to Taiwanese teas and Vietnamese appetizers and pho. That sounds like a winning combination for the winter. Time to plan my next trip!

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Every year I have an annual girls weekend where we choose a place for Vancity Girlfriends to enjoy a weekend away from Vancity and to relax without any duties of home. This year we planned a year in advance and saved up enough Air Miles so we could fly to Kelowna for a weekend in October.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">We stayed at the Sandman Hotel which has a beautiful indoor swimming pool and hot tub (we were too busy drinking, eating and shopping to use it) but it was still calming to walk by the pools everyday and see the serenity of the pool. We stayed on the business floor and the room had all the amenities such as a shower and bathtub, mini-fridge, coffee maker, TV, and two queen sized beds. It is conveniently located across the street from Orchard Park Shopping Centre, a BC Liquor Store and close to several restaurants such as The Keg, Milestones and Moxies.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The first night we made reservations at the Quails Gate Winery Restaurant called The Old Vines Restaurant to get the weekend started right. I would highly recommend The Old Vines restaurant for any special occasion. We started with a wine flight and then ordered our main meals. I had the bison and Vancity Girlfriend Carolyn had the salmon which was served with popcorn. That may seem like an unusual pairing but it was absolutely amazing. Dessert is a must. The names on the menu does not describe the unity of flavors on the dessert plate. It's a subtle dance on the tastebuds for each bite. The desserts that are featured below are the Iced Peanut Butter Parfait and the Milk Delice. I'll never forget the experience of dining at the Old Vines Restaurant at the Quails Gate Winery. They were unforgettable culinary journey in Kelowna BC.

That's what I did, but my girlfriend who I was meeting found me on the street, turned me around, and led me to the hole-in-the-wall kind of place.

Bow Bow Cafe is a small restaurant serving Taiwanese noodles. That's what it's famous for. This is a no frills kind of place. The menu is written on a chalkboard on the wall. Read it and order. It's that simple. If you are a place that specializes in noodles, then you order the Taiwanese Beef Noodle.

We decided to also order the chicken noodle dish below. However, I admit, I loved the Beef Noodle better. The advantage of Bow Bow Cafe is that it's pretty simple and fast food and there's not much fuss. The disadvantage other than trying to find it beside an adult sex shop, is that it is a cash only type of place. I don't mind this as the dishes were reasonably priced at around $10-$12 each. My friend treated me so I don't quite remember but it's a good place to try again now that fall is here for the beef noodle in a soup.
So I decided to go to Kiehl's so I could get a skincare consultation. To my surprise, my friend was working there and it was a fabulous reunion. She tested my pH of my skin and determined that I had combination skin. All I could feel was my dry cheeks and was sure that I had dry skin. But as with others the T zone was oily so that combination is combination skin.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">She brought out a few different products for me to take a look at and try. And she explained the purpose of serums which really gave me education about all skincare products. Before I went to Kiehls I knew that I wanted a skin moisturizer and I had used the one at Kiehls before. What I didn't know is that I would come away with enough samples and products to have my new Kiehl's Skincare Routine.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Purifying Foaming Cleanser
Cucumber Herbal Alcohol Free Toner
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Calendula and Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate

Ultra Facial Cream
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I've thrown out my drugstore skin care and have adopted the new Keihls's Skincare routine to see if my skin can start to mend and not be dry anymore. The full sized products that I bought to help save my skin was the Hydro-Plumping Serum $67 and the Ultra Facial Cream $36. This was more than I expected to spend but after using it a few weeks my skin is no longer dry and cakey at the end of the day and I'm loving trying a whole skincare routine from the same line.

What is girl's weekend? Every year a few girlfriends and I go on a girls weekend away instead of celebrating our birthdays with dinners and presents. We save our money and treat ourselves to a weekend away from our regular daily life and instead take a much needed girls weekend away.

How do we choose our destinations? It's never easy for the three of us to decide on a place. It has to be during the weekend from Friday night to Sunday and close enough to return to Vancouver on Sunday. It needs to have shopping, eating, drinking, spa-ing (luxuriating at the spa), or more drinking.

In 2016 we decided to go to the River Rock Casino in Richmond. They had Trattoria (highly rated restaurant), the Buffet (which actually was our favorite), casino, Spa Utopia with hot tub and pool access, and shopping at Richmond Center. It met all of our requirements for a girls weekend away.

What was our least favorite part of this trip? Well, I have to admit that I upgraded our room from two queen beds to a suite. I thought the idea of a suite would be great! Of course even though no one was smart enough to tell me that this was a bad idea and we should change our room, instead the other girls banned me from ever being in charge of the hotel room for the girls weekend because I would get enough bed. At least this is one trip we will remember.

What was our favorite part of this trip? Spa Utopia and the male Registered Massage Therapists who were excellent and after the treatment I had wished that I chose the longer one. 45 minutes was too short. And The Buffet at the River Rock Casino. Our timing was perfect so we didn't have to wait long for dinner and were so impressed we returned the next day for the breakfast buffet.

Take a look at our suite in the Vancity Girlfriends video and you can decide if this is enough space for three?

Our 2017 Girls Weekend away will be in Kelowna, BC coming up in October! Subscribe to Vancity Girlfriends on YouTube to see what we do in Kelowna.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In our technology savvy world, that is not a surprise. When McDonalds App Coupon came out, I was drawn since McDonalds is not an expensive fast food restaurant to begin with. Then add the discount coupon on the app and it's possible to save money. Now what I didn't know is that the coupons do rotate and change every week.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">With the McDonalds Kiosks and McDonalds Coupon App, it's easy to order at the self serve kiosk and save money. It's great for introverts like me who hate ordering in person and having to answer all of the questions. The kiosk makes it much easier. My coupon was for $1 off a breakfast combo so I ordered the sausage egg mcmuffin with hash browns and I splurged and upgraded my drink to a medium size of earl's grey tea with stevia. There are customizations and options at the kiosk. Have fun with it! Comment and let us know what you ordered.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

We went to Harambe Ethiopian Restaurant on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, BC.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It was a quaint restaurant and it's great when others know what to order and could order for us. We ordered a combination platter and a lamb wot dish that perfectly fit in the middle of the plate. Ethiopian food is eaten without utensils. Yes, that's right, we eat with our hands. They serve the food with and on injera, which is a flatbread that you pick up the food with. Now I think there is a talent for eating with your hands. Even with the injera my fingers were covered with juices and I must have used ten napkins. Ahh, the fun of eating with friends.
We have a chance to catch up and go out on the town. We decided to go to dinner and a movie and in between had time to make a quick stop at Sephora.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Earls Restaurant was our first stop at the Earls Test Kitchen downtown Vancouver conveniently located beside the Scotiabank movie theatre. We met early so we could go to Earls Restaurant Happy Hour. Happy Hour is the perfect way to eat fabulous food at a fraction of the cost. On Saturdays Frozen Lemonade is $2 off so we started with that and then we shared appetizers from the Happy Hour menu including Margarita pizza, Coconut prawns and Swordfish tacos.

Perhaps the fact that her family lives in British Columbia gives her an excuse to stop and explore some new towns in BC. This summer Carolyn and her family stopped by Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos, BC on her summer holiday.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Now I know that Watermark Beach Resort is not Iberostar in Mexico, but let's take a look at the Vancity Girlfriends Watermark Beach Resort vlog to see the spacious one bedroom suite, lakeview and resort pool. The resort room had a balcony and it looks like Toby gives it a two thumbs up.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">They only stayed one night but the in-suite laundry and full kitchen makes it comfortable for a longer stay for sure.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Find out more about the resort here: https://www.watermarkbeachresort.com/
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">We had another friend who ended up at the Watermark Beach Resort for her Yoga and Wine Holidays and that's now on my wish list. It's a two in one where you can stay the at the resort and have it all packaged up with yoga.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Summer is here and Playland is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon for the whole family. Playland in Vancouver is an amusement park and it has rides for all ages. There are roller coasters for the little kids (which I prefer) as I find the wooden roller coaster too scary for me. They also have the ferris wheel with the breathtaking views.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

Eat a big breakfast for you can enjoy the rides and fun without having to spend too much money on eating out. There are all kinds of rides with lots of spinning, screaming, and gentler rides like the bumper cars.
This year the prize was the Skeleton Bunny!
So I asked my Indian friend if she wanted to go again and bring me there. Of course she said "Yes" as it's hard to resist a meal for $5.99. That's the Monday special where you can order a dosa for $5.99. At that price she basically told us to order one to go so we all would have lunch the next day. Initially I wasn't going to but then I really thought about it and figured out that $5.99 is cheaper than a McDonald's Big Mac combo. I might have offended my friend at that time for comparing authentic South Indian Food to McDonalds. That justification won me over and I ordered one dosa to eat-in and one dosa to go.

Mondays at the Dosa Factory on Kingsway in Vancouver is a big deal so it's natural that you have to put your name down on the wait list and wait. With a smaller group of 4 people it was easier than with a group of 10 people. I did notice that they had many tables of 2 so a dynamic duo is a good number.

It was worth the wait. When we were seated there were bottles of water on the table for us. The Monday menu was simple and we ordered one dosa to eat in and one order to go. They were able to keep track of our order. Even though it was busy and cheap, they still take the time to provide good customer service which I appreciate.

I ordered a prawn dosa to eat in and the lamb dosa to go. A dosa is pictured below and it's hard to see but inside it has the delicous filling of vegetables, potato, and the "prawn" or "lamb" or "menu option" of your choice. What was more surprising is that it was filling and I was stuffed after eating one dosa. I would definitely return to the Dosa Factory. Everyday they have specials but Mondays are the cheapest. I'll return again for another Dosa Day.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Chef's Plate is a meal delivery service that delivers all the ingredients for fresh and local meals made in 30 minutes to your home or office. I was lucky enough that my friend who was going out of town forgot to cancel her subscription so she offered it to me. WOW! Of course I jumped at the chance. I had heard about Chef's Plate before but since we live in an apartment building, it's not as convenient because I need to be home to accept the delivery. Even though it can be delivered to the office, the delivery box seemed so large that I would have trouble carrying it on public transit.

When I received the box at work, it looked large on the outside, I opened it and realized that the bulk of the box was the ice packs and packaging to keep the salmon cold. I transferring the easy Chef's Plate bags (1 per dinner with the ingredients inside) to a shopping bag and just kept one of the ice packs to the keep the salmon fillet cold and it much easier to transport.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Using Chef's Plate saved me time that week because I didn't have to go grocery shopping. All the ingredients I needed was in the Chef's Plate bag in a tidy package. They remembered everything and the recipes were easy to follow and read. Normally I wouldn't be able to afford Chef's Plate so I'm happy that luck followed me. If you are curious, email vancitygirlfriends@gmail.com and I can ask if my friend has a referral code to send to you.

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">R is for Ramen Butcher which is a Japanese comfort food restaurant in Chinatown on Georgia Street. It is a lovely gem admist the hustle and bustle of the streets.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The Ramen Butcher has its specialty menu which focuses on as the name suggest "ramen". Since this Japanese Ramen restaurant makes fresh noodles and provides extra noodles as a part of their service. This is a great way to ensure that people leave with happy with a full belly.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I've tried ramen before but had never heard of Tsukemen so I had to give it a try. Tsukemen is a dish where the noodles are served separately from the soup concentrate and instead of drinking the soup, it is enjoyed by dipping the noodles in the soup concentrate. It's flavorful and fun to be dipping noodles. After the plate of noodles, they provide "soup wari" which dilutes the conentrate so it can be consumed. Those who wish may ask for rice to combine in the soup. It was a fun experience and I was full without the rice.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Another friend had the Tori Ramen (Chicken Ramen) served with medium thick noodles and after he finished the extra noodle ball with his leftover soup, that was enough to keep him full.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The Ramen Butcher was a great place to catch up with friends and enjoy the Japanese comfort food. Everything on the menu was delicious!

D is for Done the #AtoZChallenge. As you might have noticed I started to get behind in the daily blogging challenge. It's weird because in November I do National Blog Posting Month and am able to finish writing daily blog posts everyday in November. For some reason the added challenge of writing blog posts with specific letters makes it more difficult and harder for me to complete. I gave it my best effort! I give kudos to all of the participants who have survived or will survive the #AtoZChallenge! It was fun while it lasted.

What I have realized is that attempting the #AtoZChallenge during the beginning of my busy work season does not seem to work. Last year I did well during my days off but when I was back working the regular Monday to Friday 9-5 schedule, it threw me off track.

Guess the same thing happened this year! But I did try the #AtoZChallenge! Good luck to all of those who are carrying on! I'll be thinking of you! As for me, I will retire the #AtoZChallenge banner and say maybe next year....or someday....maybe.

C is for Como Lake Park located in Coquitlam, BC. It was a spontaneous day and I ended up at Coquitlam Center and I never knew how close everything was when you drive in Coquitlam instead of take the bus. My friend still had a bit of free time so I asked to get some exercise and go for a walk. We found that Como Lake Park was only a 10 minute drive away. Of course that is only when you don't go down the wrong residential streets and get U-turns at the end of the lane instead of the park parking lots. With being so close to Como Lake and being able to see the lake, it was frustrating to be within reach but still had to drive around to find the real parking lot.

When we did I was happy to have finally arrived at Como Lake Park. It was a small lake to walk around and since it was a sunny day there were others walking that day. A few with their dogs and what was more popular was the lake itself for some people. It's because people can go fishing in Como Lake. I saw someone in full fly fisherman gear in the lake fly fishing. Others were on the pier. Como Lake Park had beautiful views and reflections on a sunny day.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Smithers, BC is childhood. This quaint little town in Northen BC is a small tourist town with one Hudson Bay Mountain for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. Even though I don't live there anymore, I love returning to the natural surroundings and beautiful scenery.
A is for Accountability

Last year was when I discovered the A to Z Blog Challenge and I didn't really know what it entailed and did not make it very far. So this year I wanted to try the challenge again with a more disciplined approach.

So what is this challenge all about? Almost everyday in April bloggers will post about a specific letter of the alphabet. It is a good way to stay committed to blogging with a community and with a fun challenge.

A to Z Blog Challenge is a good way to stay accountable and in this case it is for blogging but I find that having an Accountability Partner is a great way to stay motivated and inspired. Here are the different ways to have an accountability partners for different areas of life.

Minimalist Challenge - 30 days give away 1 item each day. Share a photo of your daily item with your accountability partner. (Variation of Minimalist Game)

Spa Buddy - Self care is important when anxiety and stress levels are on the rise. Have a buddy who you can count on to have monthly spa dates.

Fitbit Challenges - This is where a whole group of friends can get together and challenge each other to walk more and get those steps. Everyone in the fitbit challenge can cheer each other's progress and chat with others during the challenge.

Fitness Buddy - While training for the Sun Run my fitness buddy and I decided on a realistic goal. Ours was to bit active for 20 minutes three times a week and then to email each other on our progress for accountability.

Elle Luna 100 Day Project - To spark your creativity, choose a daily creative task that you want to do daily and create a #100daysof____ so others participating in the #100dayproject can follow. There is strong community on Instagram. In 2015 I had #100daysofnaturephotography. What will yours be for 2017?
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">White Spot is a family restaurant that serves brunch until 3pm. So if you skipped breakfast or woke up late or just prefer brunch type foods, White Spot is a good place to go. Brunch menu options are affordable and under $15. Our favorite is the Steelhead Eggs Benedict with salmon and a poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce. It is served with has browns and a salsa. The Steelhead Benedict above was from when we visited Squamish, BC and I have to admit that the taste is very consistent across the restaurants.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">If you're intrigued, you can check out the Brunch menu at the following link: http://whitespot.ca/menu/bc/brunch
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">White Spot is one of our regular breakfast joints (other than eating at home). They are open in the morning and have good customer service for those everyday kinda days.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

So I have a problem. I'm addicted to Groupon Vancouver this year. It helps that a have a Groupon buddy, yes a friend who loves Groupon even more that I do. One of the reasons I stopped with all group buying coupons for awhile is because I was addicted to buying them and then never redeemed them. Now times have changed and I make sure that I make my appointments and use my groupons. On occassion if I miss out, that's okay because the amount I paid never expires.
So when I saw the Fatburger Groupon for a burger, fries and drink for $9, it was perfect and I bought one right away. Fatburger is a fast food joint with big juicy burgers. It was easy to use the Groupon and I only had to pay the tax which was less than $1.45 or something like that. Fatburger just outside Stadium skytrain station was packed because of a Canucks game the same night. However since it's fast food, I was able to find a spot for one at the window and there is fast turnaround. It tooks 10 minutes for me to get my meal which is pretty good because just look at that plump burger filled with toppings.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

It was a surprisingly sunny afternoon so I ventured out to see Vancity Girlfriend Carolyn. We went for a walk to enjoy the afternoon sunshine and got a bus to go to the heart of downtown Vancouver. We couldn't wait to get off the bus and walk about. Of course there are stores all around so we went to Payless Shoes on Granville Street to see how to use Carolyn's 20% off coupon. She found a couple pairs of shoes for her family and got a good deal. Then we walked down Robson Street to the large Sephora store. I keep forgetting about that one. It is huge. I browsed and was in awe at how much selection the store had. Carolyn, the beauty expert, found what she was looking for. Then we continued on our adventure for a place to eat.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Our plan was to go to AllStar Wings and Ribs and from the outside the stars and stripes were there, but we could also see that it was dark and empty. There was no need to go any further. That restaurant was closed.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">We were thinking of Red Robin, but I didn't have any coupons so then we decided to continue walking to the Convention Center. There we landed at Rogue Kitchen and Wetbar Convention Center. It was great because after all that walking we were ready for a drink and dinner. Unfortunately we missed Happy Hour, but we didn't miss the drink special which was Bellinis for $5.49.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">For dinner we decided to share the fries x 3 (who can resist poutine, bacon and gorgonzola, and truffle oil with parmesan) and the Tempesta pizza with chili prawns. What a winning combination! I was impressed that Rogue Kitchen and Wetbar was able to split our bill to share the food and my portion with 1 bellini and dinner came out to $25 (including 15% tip) so I'm going to be taking note of this and going out with Vancity Girlfriend Carolyn more often! It was a great night catching up!
I've been to Ebisu Vancouver on Robson Street. This was my first time to Ebisu Richmond.

Ebisu Richmond is where my brother likes to go for lunch when he is in town and now I understand why. Lunch at Ebisu Richmond is a real bargain. We arrived at 1:30pm and were told we had 25 minutes until the last call and only 50 minutes to eat since they close at 2:30pm. That was not a problem for us. The benefit of arriving late is that we didn't have to wait for a table.

Since this was my brother's favourite lunch place in Vancouver, he knew exactly what to order. We ordered a BBQ Eel sushi boat, Sashimi bento box and an assortment of 3 items from the lunch special which included a dynamite roll, tuna tataki salad, and spicy salmon don. Each order was less than $15 which included a miso soup. All of the dishes were elegantly displayed and tasted delicious. Now I'm a big fan of Ebisu Richmond and hopefully my brother's trips will fall on a weekend when I can go out and enjoy this fabulous lunch menu with him.
So I was delighted when a friend wanted to treat me for afternoon tea.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">After a bit of research and knowing that someone else was treating me, I chose La Petite Cuillère at 55 Kingsway near Main Street and Broadway. It is a quaint little shop with cupboards of traditional English tea cups and saucers and that display is everywhere. That's the fun part is to pretend to walk into an English tea room to have a cup of tea. La Petite Cuillère is small and that is what makes it attractive because you can comfortably have conversations with your girlfriends and catch up. The service was friendly and excellent. When our afternoon tea arrived and the pretty tiers of finger sandwiches, scones, and desserts, the server even offered to take our pictures. And he knew exactly where to seat us for the best lighting. They refilled our tea pots with water and we felt right at home. There was no rush to leave and it was a window view of our afternoon tea treat. It made me fall in love with afternoon tea.
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I loved their scones with homemade devonshire cream and jam. The savory sandwichese were creative and one was even warmed - which is a first. Of course the macaron was the highlight of the sweet tier for me. Best of all the afternoon tea is reasonably priced at $25 each which is a sweet treat!
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Take care of yourself on #SelfCareSunday and remember what you like to do and what makes you happy! It took this visit to remind me that I truly enjoy afternoon tea and need to include this on my self care plan even if it may seem extravagant. It is worth it if it helps me step into a different world even for an afternoon.
